Sunday Sketchbook Social is a mindful, stress-free workshop series for participants to loosen up and play.
Over the course of 4 weeks, each session begins with mindfulness warm-up and a simple prompt, followed by a guided museum walk to gather inspiration and visual vocabulary.
I will walk participants through mini sketchbook exercises and explore the playful themes of faces, pets, feelings, colors, texture, and stories, one session at a time, in a 5.5 x 8.5-inch sketchbook, using shapes, lines, dots, and monochromatic color palettes. We may move from indoors to outdoors on Week 5 or 6 if the weather permits.
Each session ends with circle time where participants can share one appreciation of another’s work (which was many of my previous students’ favorite part!). Participants will leave with their own hand-illustrated pages and the much-needed confidence to make creative practice a part of their lives.
Registration for this event includes access to the program and general admission. You do not need to purchase an additional ticket to the museum to attend this program. Tickets can be upgraded to include special exhibition access on the day of your visit. Entry information will be provided in your confirmation email, under the "Important Information" header. If you do not receive a confirmation email within ten minutes, please check your spam/junk folders. The email will be addressed from visit@asianart.org.
